Our young members are on a winning streak

Congratulations to Jazy Roberts and her partner, Taylah Robinson, for winning the Victorian Women’s Foursomes Championship,played at Metropolitan on 30th Oct.

Archie Alston came 2nd in second rnd of Primary School Championship at Heathcote. He qualified for Championship at Kooringal on 5th December. 

Jazy Roberts gets medals at Pacific Games

Below is an extract of an email from Jazy's proud mum relating to her performance at last week's Pacific Games in Adelaide.

Jazy's Girls team came equal 2nd in the Four Person Ambrose event which was held on Monday, with a score 5 under.

Her Girls 12 and Under team came 3rd overall in the 3 day stroke event held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The combined Girls and Boys 12 and Under team also came 3rd overall in that 3 day stroke competition (the Craig Parry Shield).

 The 12 and Under competition is a teams event, so they don't focus on individual scores and they have now dropped off the Pacific School Games website (before I even had a chance to look at them!!!). However, the Team Manager thinks Jazy ranked 1st with 78 gross at Adelaide Shores GC on Wednesday, then 4th with 83 gross at Mt Osmond GC on Thursday and 3rd with 86 gross at North Adelaide GC on Friday. He thinks this placed her 2nd overall for the 3 days of stroke.

The 17 and Under team from Victoria were also fairly successful, particularly the girls team (with a 13 year old taking out the Girls Individual Scratch event!).

Well done Jazy- you have made BPGC members very proud that you are now representing us as a fully fledged Belvoir Park Golf Club player

Jazy Roberts

Most of our members have watched 12 year old Jazy constantly winning district & club events over the past few years and see the love that she has for golf now start coming to fruition.  Jazy has been selected to play in the Victorian 12 years and under team and will travel to Adelaide early December to compete against other Australian State 12 years & under teams.  Jazy is playing off a 7 hcp.  It was evident just how good she was on Sunday during our annual Beldale grudge match with Axedale - Jazy took 4 of the 5 NTP, longest drive and was in the winning team.

Many of our members marvel and envy this little player with his big equipment and easy going swing & accurate greens play.  All his hard work and practice has paid off and he has now qualified in the Victorian State Schools Tournament to play off at the Kooringal Golf Club in the final this Wednesday 29th November 2017. The Final will be played over 18 holes on a shortened course.

The qualifying events (divisional & regional) had the courses modified to suit the primary aged student with all holes shortened.  To be eligible to play students must be enrolled in Grades 3, 4, 5 or 6 at a School Sport Victoria member school. 

Archie is only in Grade 2 so he will be competing against players older & in higher grades - quite an achievement for such a young player.  

Both young players have the backing of wonderful families who have devoted much time, travel & love into promoting their children not only into good young golfers but into fine young children.

Belvoir Park Golf Club Committee and members want to wish our young players all the very best and make it known that we are all very proud of having such fine juniors representing our club.

A day to celebrate for the Roberts’ family.

Jazy travelled to Peninsula Kingswood Golf course to contest the Div 2 Lady’s Pennant playing for The Heritage against Royal Melbourne, who they beat in the final round /2.

The final was hard fought as expected and was still alive with the last two matches going to the 17^th with The Heritage needing both wins.  Jazy held her nerve to win the match 2/1 and clinch the Pennant.

At 16 she is the second youngest in the team,  but has a ‘never say die’ attitude that is loved by her team.

Add that Pennant to Jason and Tom’s BPGC Men’s Open Pennant today, will make it interesting as to who had the bragging rights at the dinner table.

Special mention to mm, Sharon, who has done the long drives and early mornings to get Jazy to the Melbourne courses.
